Families, politicians, activists, and youths gathered at All Saints Cathedral in Nairobi on Sunday to commemorate the victims of the June 2024 protests.

The youth-led interdenominational service was organised by churches under the National Council of Churches of Kenya (NCCK), the Evangelical Alliance of Kenya (EAK), the Kenya Christian Professionals Fellowship (KCPF), and the National Association of Youth Workers Networks (NAYNET).

The protests—largely peaceful demonstrations against the Finance Bill—turned bloody on June 25, 2024, claiming the lives of several young Kenyans.

Politicians, including Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, former Chief Justice David Maraga, and DAP-K leader Eugene Wamalwa, joined in the service.

A poster announcing the event had invited the public to “join us for an interdenominational prayer service by the Kenyan church for the victims of the June 2024 protests.”

Attendees were asked to wear a white shirt or top and carry the national flag.

Meanwhile, Kenyans across the country are planning to hold protests on Wednesday, June 25, to commemorate the victims of the June 2024 demonstrations.
