Iran fired a barrage of missiles toward Israel on Sunday, intensifying tensions in a long-running conflict between the two nations.

The attack came just hours after the United States announced it had targeted and destroyed critical Iranian nuclear facilities.

Beersheba, another major city in southern Israel, was also targeted.

The latest strikes mark a significant escalation in hostilities that have been brewing for years. Iran and Israel have long been engaged in a covert and open conflict, shaped by Iran’s nuclear ambitions and Israel’s efforts, backed by the United States, to prevent it from obtaining nuclear weapons.

The situation became especially tense after US President Donald Trump announced airstrikes that “obliterated” Iran’s nuclear sites at Isfahan, Fordow, and Natanz—facilities central to Tehran’s atomic program.

Since the war erupted on June 13, Israel has suffered more than 50 confirmed missile impacts across its territory, with 25 people killed.

In a fiery statement, Tehran warned of “everlasting consequences” for the attacks.

Meanwhile, both Iran’s National Nuclear Safety System and the United Nations’ International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) confirmed that radiation levels remained normal despite the strikes.

The growing crisis threatens to deepen the conflict between Israel and Iran, raising fears of a wider regional war that could draw in global powers.

As both sides continue to trade blows, tensions in the Middle East have reached a dangerous new chapter.
