weekend, with promotion favourites recording mixed results.
3K surrendered
the top slot in the National Super League after being held to a barren draw by
visiting Equity Bank at Moi Stadium in Embu.
Migori Youth
reclaimed the top position after a hard-fought 1-0 win over Kibera Black Stars,
while Mombasa United edged relegation-threatened Mwatate United 1-0 to move to
second place.
Migori Youth
lead the log with 71 points, the same as Mombasa United. However, Migori Youth,
under coach Sammy Owano, has a better goal difference. 3K FC are third with 69
points, while Equity Bank are fourth with 65 points.
3K FC
assistant coach Dennis Wise said the battle for qualification to the SportPesa
League is still on despite the draw against Equity Bank FC.
“It was an
important match for us. We knew it was going to be tough. We didn’t win the game,
but we also didn’t lose. We pick the positives and focus on the next game. The
race is still on. The remaining fixtures are very important for us,” said Wise.
Equity Bank coach John Benzo admitted it was a tough encounter. “3K have been on a good run in the league at home. Our target is to close the gap between the league leaders and us. The league is very competitive, and there are a lot of quality players in the league,” remarked Benzo.
The Michael
Olunga Foundation Academy (MOFA) are out of the promotion race after falling 1-0
to Kisumu All Stars in a Nyanza Region Derby.
MOFA are fifth on the log with 60 points, 11 adrift of the log leaders with four games to play.
MOFA management sacked coach Charles Warinda two weeks ago and replaced him
with Fabian Hosea until the end of the season.

Youth, Mully Children’s Family (MCF), Vihiga United, and Mwatate United are
still locked in the relegation battle. Vihiga United’s impressive run under
veteran coach Gilbert Selebwa was halted following a 1-0 loss against Darajani
Gogo. Following the win, Darajani Gogo moved out of the relegation zone.
Kabati Youth
dropped to 17th on the table with 29 points after a 2-1 loss against
Soy United, while MCF is 18th, one point behind them.
Vihiga United, a former FKF Premier League side, is languishing in 19th position with 26 points, and Mwatate United is at the bottom of the table with 25 points.
