3K FC players celebrate after their win against Gucha Stars at Gusii Stadium/ANGWENYI GICHANANational Super League leaders 3K FC coach Nicodemus Omasete has tipped the team’s forwards to steer the club to the SportPesa League.
The club has scored 55 goals, the highest tally in the league so far, and conceded the least, 23.
They sit top of the table with 68 points, same as second-placed Migori Youth and third-placed Mombasa United. However, their goal difference of 32 leaves them better of the trio.
“The competition in the team, especially among the forwards, has spurred the team to the top of the table. This will continue in the five games, and I’m enjoying it although it gives me a selection headache,” said Omasete.
The club’s top scorer is Mark Kithome with 12 goals and 13 assists, while Javan Njue has scored eight times and has four assists. Oscar Juma has seven goals and 13 assists to his name. Alex Mwalimu has scored eight times and has assisted five times.
“Our team is unpredictable. Most of the players can score regardless of their position. The competition for starting places is tough, and you can see that in training, which is why I rotate my squad in every game,” noted Omasete.
Speaking ahead of Sunday’s game against Equity FC at Moi Stadium in Embu, Omasete said they expect a tough outing. “Equity are fourth and in the promotion mix too. I anticipate a tough game,” noted Omasete.
“I
have worked on the gaps I identified in our last game against Kibera Black
Stars. Even though we won, we struggled in some areas, which I have fine-tuned
ahead of the game against Equity Bank.”
Additionally, he still has Mombasa United, Mwatate United, and Migori Youth to contend with in what promises to be a tough journey to the end.
“We have two
away and three home games. From my analysis, winning the NSL title is
achievable. The playing unit, technical bench, and management are totally
committed to achieving this,” said Omasete.
Omasete
spoke after beating Conference League side Awakening FC 11-2 in a build up
match on Thursday.
