The 63rd Madaraka Day celebrations will forever remain a significant milestone in the history of Northern Kenya.

For the first time, Wajir County had the honour of hosting this national event, placing Wajir and the entire Northern Kenya region at the centre of the nation's attention and demonstrating their strategic importance in Kenya's social, economic, and political development.

While this achievement was the result of the collective efforts of many leaders and stakeholders, one individual stands out for his determination, vision, and commitment: Governor Ahmed Abdullahi.

Through careful planning, patience, and strategic engagement, he successfully positioned Wajir to host an event of national importance. What many witnessed on Madaraka Day was not an overnight achievement but the outcome of deliberate planning, sustained effort, and a clear vision for the county's future.

Governor Ahmed Abdullahi demonstrated the power of synergy and cooperation by fostering strong working relationships between the county government and the national government. He brought together residents, the County Assembly, elders, religious leaders, youth, women, and other stakeholders around a shared vision for the county's progress. This spirit of unity and collaboration contributed greatly to the success of the celebrations and showcased Wajir's ability to host major national events.

Another notable aspect of the administration has been its emphasis on planning and budget alignment. County projects and contract awards are generally linked to approved budgets and planned expenditures, helping to ensure that commitments are matched with available resources. This approach seeks to reduce the accumulation of pending bills and avoid situations in which contracts are awarded without clear provisions for payment. Through improved planning and budgeting, the county has worked to ensure that development projects are implemented in a more structured and sustainable manner.

Beyond financial management, Governor Ahmed Abdullahi possesses an exceptional understanding of Wajir County. He speaks about the county's development priorities, challenges, opportunities, and projects with remarkable command of detail. Whether discussing infrastructure, health, education, water, livestock, or economic development, he demonstrates an impressive grasp of county affairs, reflecting a leader who is deeply engaged with the needs and aspirations of his people. It is often said that he carries information about the county at his fingertips, a quality that enables informed decision-making and effective leadership.

A key factor behind Governor Ahmed Abdullahi's success has been his ability to strategically position Wajir County within national development conversations. Through consistent engagement with the national government, development partners, investors, and other stakeholders, he has ensured that Wajir is no longer viewed as a peripheral county but as a region with immense potential and opportunity. His efforts have opened doors to greater investment, infrastructure development, and national attention to the needs and aspirations of the people of Wajir.

As Chairperson of the Council of Governors (CoG), Governor Ahmed Abdullahi has further elevated the profile of both Wajir County and the devolved system of governance. His leadership at the national level has strengthened intergovernmental relations and provided him with a platform to advocate for counties across Kenya while simultaneously showcasing Wajir's potential. His towering presence in county leadership has enhanced the county's visibility, attracted new opportunities, and positioned Wajir as a county capable of competing and succeeding on the national stage. Through his influence, networks, and commitment to service, Wajir continues to gain recognition as an emerging centre of growth, innovation, and effective governance in Northern Kenya.

The county has also witnessed improved order, stability, and coordination under Governor Ahmed Abdullahi's leadership. Through collaboration with community leaders, elders, security agencies, and other stakeholders, efforts have been made to foster peace and create an environment conducive to development. Stability remains a critical foundation for progress, investment, and service delivery.

The successful hosting of the Madaraka Day celebrations also belongs to the people of Wajir. Residents turned out in large numbers, demonstrating their hospitality, patriotism, and pride in their county. Their participation disproved the doubts of critics and naysayers who questioned the county's readiness to host a national event of such magnitude. The peaceful and orderly celebrations reflected the unity, resilience, and determination of the people of Wajir.

As history is written, Wajir will forever be remembered for hosting this landmark celebration. The county also continues to honour the contributions of its leaders, including the late Ahmed Khalif, whose service remains an important part of Wajir's rich legacy and development journey.

History will undoubtedly record Governor Ahmed Abdullahi's role in this achievement. His contribution to elevating Wajir's profile nationally and demonstrating what effective local governance can achieve will remain indelibly etched in the county's story. Whether one agrees with his politics or not, his leadership has provided a practical example of how vision, planning, accountability, and collaboration can transform governance at the local level.

The successful hosting of the 63rd Madaraka Day celebrations stands as a testament to what is possible when leadership is guided by purpose, preparation, and a commitment to serving the people. Future generations will look back on this moment as one that showcased Wajir's potential, elevated Northern Kenya's standing within the nation, and reaffirmed the region's place in Kenya's development journey. The names of Wajir and Governor Ahmed Abdullahi will remain closely associated with this historic achievement, written in the county's history in enduring and indelible ink.
