Rival camps clashed on Thursday in an event hosted by Narok Senator Ledama Olekina in Kajiado County.

In a video seen by the Star, the groups were engaged in a confrontation that lasted over one hour.

One group was already at the venue of the meeting and as the other came to join them, they refused to allow them in.

At one point in the video, the second group is seen trying to force its way in unsuccessfully.

Police were later forced to intervene and while their efforts toned down the temper from the two factions, they did not stop the confrontation.

According to Senator Olekina the meeting is meant to unite the people of the Maasai community from all parts of the country.

He said the meeting would be a platform for the community to discuss its social, economic and political developments.

“Against all odds, today we proudly go live to the world, united as the Maa Nation, speaking with one powerful voice! Our social, economic, and political development will be shaped by our collective efforts. Together, we stand behind the Kenyan Government while asserting our right to determine our future. Join us in this historic moment and let’s embrace our shared vision for a prosperous tomorrow,” he said ahead of the start of the meeting held in Eiti village, Sajiloni in Kajiado.

He insists that it is time the Maasais planned their future and end poverty.

"Its time to change our future as a community, we must end poverty! April 3, 2025, is the beginning of an economic revolution for the Maa youth. Here is my initial contribution."
