President William Ruto on Friday embarked on an inspection and commissioning of various projects in Embu and Tharaka Nithi Counties in his day four of Mount Kenya tour.

Accompanied by his Deputy President, Kithure Kindiki and other elected leaders, the President launched the construction of the intake water treatment plant and the laying of 26km of pipes at the Kamburu Dam Water Supply project in Mbeere South, Embu.

He noted that the ongoing projects in Embu County would help in boosting food security and increasing sanitation standards through clean drinking water.

“Once complete, the project being undertaken for Sh789 million will benefit 88,000 residents with clean drinking water and boost food production through irrigation.”

Ruto also oversaw the opening of Tharaka University Tuition Complex in Tharaka Nithi County and addressed a rally shortly after.

"We have enhanced access to quality education so that we can offer our children the best learning opportunity to be the best that they can be in the society," he said.

The tour, which commenced Tuesday has seen him traverse several counties of Laikipia, Nyeri, Meru, Murang'a, Kirinyaga, and Nyandarua.
