Nairobi Water has announced a temporary water supply interruption that will affect several parts of the city from Monday, June 15, 2026, at 10 pm to Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at midday, following a leakage on a major transmission pipeline.

The utility said the interruption is necessary to facilitate urgent repairs on the NCT-Kigoro-Gigiri-Kabete transmission pipeline at Gatundu, which serves multiple high-demand areas within the capital.

“This is to inform you of a temporary water supply interruption that will affect several residential and commercial areas in the City. The interruption is due to a leakage on the NCT-Kigoro-Gigiri-Kabete transmission pipeline at Gatundu,” the notice stated.

The shutdown will begin at 10 pm on Monday and is expected to last until midday on Tuesday, June 16, with normal supply anticipated to resume thereafter.

According to the utility, the interruption will affect Westlands and its environs, Kibera, Lavington, Karen, Kilimani, Uthiru, Upper Hill, Kawangware, Ngong Road, Kangemi, Madaraka and Lang’ata.

Other affected supply zones include areas served by MAVWASCO and Oloolaiser Water Company.

Nairobi Water urged residents and businesses in the affected areas to store sufficient water in advance to cushion themselves during the interruption period.

Customers were advised to use the utility’s toll-free helpline 0800 724 366 for updates, assistance or to report any concerns. The line will be operational daily between 7:30 a.m. and 9:30 p.m.

Nairobi Water said the repairs are part of ongoing efforts to improve the reliability and stability of water supply infrastructure across the city, as it works to restore normal services within the scheduled timeframe.

Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company (NCWSC) was incorporated in December 2003 under the Companies Act cap 486.
