Machakos woman locks daughter in her house, sets it on fire

A woman killed her eight-year-old daughter by setting her house on fire before she hanged herself on a tree in a suicide mission in Muthesya area, Masinga, Machakos County.

The body of Rose Nzomo was found in a tree in a bush by locals who rushed to the scene on September 3, 2025 morning to respond to the fire incident.

It was then that they realised the woman’s daughter, who was a grade two pupil at the Muambani Primary School, had died in the fire incident.

Police determined the fire was an arson caused by the deceased woman.
