
A woman killed her eight-year-old daughter by setting her house on fire before she hanged herself on a tree in a suicide mission in Muthesya area, Masinga, Machakos County.
The body of Rose Nzomo was found in a tree in a bush by
locals who rushed to the scene on September 3, 2025 morning to respond to the
fire incident.
It was then that they realised the woman’s daughter, who
was a grade two pupil at the Muambani Primary School, had died in the fire
incident.
Police determined the fire was an arson caused by
the deceased woman.
The motive of the incident was not immediately established. The bodies were moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy.
Elsewhere in Gachoge, Kirinyaga
County, a 42-year-old woman died by suicide by hanging herself on a mango tree
using a scarf that was found tied around her neck.
