Man on the run after hacking wife in Machakos

Police are investigating a bizarre incident where a man killed his wife in a domestic fight in the Masinga area, Machakos County.

The man used a mattock to kill the woman, police said, adding the assailant is on the run.

The mattock was found stuck in her head, police said.

Police said Annastacia Wanza, 31, was found lying dead in bed in a pool of blood long after her murder.

Other family members said the couple had been having quarrels.

The hunt for the assailant is ongoing, police said as they moved the body to the mortuary pending an autopsy.

And a livestock dealer was clobbered to death in his house in a robbery incident in Kavalya village, Kangundo, Machakos County.

The deceased was identified as Nickson Muema, 34, who was a known livestock dealer.

He was confronted at his house on Wednesday morning by a gang of about ten who demanded cash from him.

The gang had broken into his house through the bedroom window even as he screamed for help.

According to the police, the gang then hit the man in the head using a blunt object after they had robbed him of an unknown amount of money before escaping.

He was rushed to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

And in the Kasinga area, Machakos County, a man and woman were arrested after they used a chisel and hammer to torture another man in a love triangle saga.

The victim was admitted to the hospital in critical condition after the September 3, 2025, incident.

Police said they are investigating the claims of a love triangle.

The suspects were detained pending possible arraignment. The hammer and chisel were recovered at the scene.

Such incidents have been reported in the area amid calls on parties to always solve them amicably.
