On the radar

The National Integrity Alliance (NIA), a coalition of civil society organisations, will address a media briefing on the Conflict of Interest Act, 2025, which takes effect on August 19, 2025.

The press conference will be held at 11 am at the Sarova Stanley Hotel.

The Act introduces new standards for public officials, including rules on declaring interests and restrictions on benefiting from government contracts.

NIA will address what this law means for accountability and governance, share its position on implementation, and present key demands for its enforcement.

CS Mbadi to address ICPAK’s  IFAC Connect Africa Forum in Nairobi

The Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) will hold the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) Connect Africa Forum from 9 am at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Upper Hill.

National Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi will address the meeting.

The meeting has been organised with the support of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) and the Pan African Federation of Accountants (PAFA).

The forum brings together professional bodies, professional services firms, standard setters, regulators, and leaders from the business and investor communities to champion high-quality, decision-useful corporate reporting, good governance, and business practice that address emerging risks and opportunities. 

EACC to hold inception conference of body overseeing Kenya Integrity Plan 2023-2028

The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission, in conjunction with the Kenya Leadership Integrity Forum (KLIF), will hold the inception conference of the Sector Coordinating Committee (SCC), the body spearheading the implementation of the Kenya Integrity Plan (KIP) 2023–2028.

The one-day conference starts at 8.30 am at Kenya School of Government, Lower Kabete, Nairobi and is themed “Realising Kenya’s Good Governance Vision through the Kenya Leadership Integrity Forum.”

It seeks to foster familiarity, integration, and better understanding of KLIF. It will also provide a platform to deliberate on emerging sectoral issues and share experiences.

The event is expected to bring together approximately 150 stakeholders from both the public and private sectors

Old Mutual Life Assurance Kenya to unveil insurance cover for boda boda community

Old Mutual Life Assurance Kenya, in partnership with Rafiki Microfinance Bank and Kenya Boda Boda Association, will launch the Boda Riders Super Cover.

The launch will be held at Green Park Terminus, Nairobi, from 9 a.m.

This first-of-its-kind cover has been designed specifically for the boda boda community, providing affordable and accessible protection.

The launch marks a significant step in advancing financial inclusion and strengthening the social and financial protection of one of Kenya’s most dynamic economic sectors.

Martin Karenju, Managing Director, Old Mutual Life Assurance Kenya, Joseph Njuguna, CEO, Rafiki Microfinance Bank and Charles Gichira, National Executive Chairman, Kenya Boda Boda Association, will address the event.

Absa Bank Kenya to launch inaugural Annual Islamic Finance Conference

Absa Bank Kenya will today launch the inaugural Absa Annual Islamic Conference focusing on Islamic financial services.

The conference, which starts at 8 am at Villa Rosa Kempinski, Nairobi, will explore core issues, including the lack of centralised Shariah governance and legal framework for Islamic banking in Kenya.

The event will also see the launch of an association to strengthen the ecosystem for Islamic financial services in Kenya and the presentation of outcomes following roundtable discussions among scholars, regulators, policy makers, institutional leaders and Absa Shariah Board to review the Islamic Finance Act.

Capital Markets Authority Chairman, Ugas Mohamed, Absa Bank Kenya PLC Chief Finance Officer, Yusuf Omari and Absa Bank Kenya PLC Business Banking Director, Elizabeth Wasunna-Ochwa, will address the meeting.
