Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga has launched a scathing attack on opposition leaders who she claims are attacking former Prime Minister Raila Odinga to remain politically relevant.

Wanga said the particular politicians have been dragging Raila into every political conversation, especially in the wake of the recent protests, instead of selling their agenda.

“We cannot have an opposition of scavengers, clueless fellows who don’t know what they are talking about. All they do is talk about Baba. If you don’t have an agenda, shauri yenu,” she charged.

She made the remarks during the funeral of the late Albert Ojwang at Nyawango Primary School in Homa Bay County.

In a veiled attack on former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, the governor recalled how he once vowed to set traps to block Raila from joining the government.

The broad-based government, she said, is the only one that will unite the country.

She further claimed they were touring the country aimlessly, attempting to exploit the momentum of the Gen Z movement for their political survival.

“These Gen Zs walked faithfully for a cause, one that is about this country’s future. But they will not allow you to hijack that cause for your selfish interests,” she said.

Her remarks come amid an ongoing tour of the Western region by the opposition leaders.

The leaders are rallying support under what they describe as a national “liberation cause.”

Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, DAP-K’s Eugene Wamalwa, and former AG Justin Muturi are leading the campaign.

On Thursday, they held rallies in Kakamega and Vihiga.

“Goons were sent to block us, but they were met by the brave and patriotic Gen Z front, who stood tall and unshaken,” Kalonzo said.

Gachagua, in a social media post, also thanked residents of Kakamega and Vihiga for turning up in large numbers.
