A team of police officers from different cadres oversaw the destruction of narcotics at Odda dump site in Moyale on Friday.
The team comprised judicial officers, members of the National Police Service (NPS), representatives from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), and Public Health officers, among other officials.
The exercise saw the destruction of 3,987 kilograms of cannabis sativa.
Others were the destruction of 25 sachets of cocaine weighing 287 grams.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said the move underscores the commitment of the criminal justice system in combating the use, sale and distribution of narcotic drugs, fostering safer communities for all.
DCI, in collaboration with other security teams, has recently arrested suspects and seized drugs across the country.

On Sunday, April 6, Mombasa Anti-Narcotics Unit detectives nabbed a man they described as a notorious drug trafficker at the Magaoni area in Msambweni.
The detectives recovered 200 grammes of heroin from the suspect.
Acting on solid intel, detectives pounced on the suspect aboard a public service vehicle.
A quick search revealed 200 grams of heroin cleverly hidden in his left trouser pocket.
Cornered and under pressure, he guided detectives to his stash at home, which led to the discovery of an additional 19 packages of cannabis sativa.
He was arrested and taken to Kilindini Port Police, undergoing processing.
On April 2, police officers from Kamagambo police station nabbed a trafficker and confiscated 401 rolls of bhang.
The arrest followed a tip-off from vigilant members of the public, who alerted authorities about a suspicious public service vehicle heading to Kisumu from Migori, loaded with illicit cargo.
Officers set up an ambush and intercepted the vehicle.
A thorough search of the vehicle revealed two bags containing a total of 401 sizeable rolls of bhang, weighing 34.4 kilograms, with an estimated street value of Sh1,032,000.
At the time of his arrest, the driver was carrying only students, perhaps banking on the assumption that such company would shield him from suspicion.
On March 29, detectives drawn from the Anti-Narcotics Unit and the Operations Action Team also arrested three suspected traffickers and seized a substantial cache of cannabis sativa.
The suspects were apprehended from a rented house in Maji Mazuri, Mwiki.
A search of the house led to the discovery of concealed 67 bales and five sacks of cannabis sativa.
