A Saudi Arabia human resource team is in Kenya seeking to recruit 500 nannies for their company, Cabinet Secretary for Labour and Social Protection Alfred Mutua has announced.

In a statement, Mutua clarified that the team is recruiting nannies and not housemaids.

A nanny is responsible for caring for and nurturing a child, while a maid purely takes care of the house chores such as laundry, dusting, cooking and upkeep.

Mutua noted that salary will range from 1,200 to 1,500 Riyals based on experience and education level (US$320 – US$400 USD), approximately Sh41,000 - Sh52,000 per month tax-free (take home)

“The company will cater for all pre-arrival fees including visas and tickets. Your only obligation will be the medical fee of Sh13,500,” Mutua said.

Interviews will be conducted on December 6 at Nairobi National Polytechnic - Along Mogira Road, opposite Pangani Police Station From 8:30 am to 5 pm.

Successful applications should be able to travel to Saudi Arabia before the end of the year and early next year.

Mutua noted that successful applicants will enjoy free accommodation and food (three meals a day) and free transport to work.

He said successful applicants will allocated a family but if uncomfortable, one will be moved to a new one.

He added that full medical care will be provided.

Qualifications include any type of certificate/diploma/graduate and child caring experience, a minimum of one year.

Only females will be recruited and their work will entail helping children to move about, the general welfare of children, feeding the children as required, and bathing the children as needed.

They will also assist and supervise the children as they undertake their homework and introduce the children to the English language.

Applicants are required to be clean, well dressed, smart, well spoken with excellent English language speech pattern, have a Kenyan passport or already filled e-citizen application, have the latest certificate of good conduct or already filled e-citizen application, have a CV and recommendation letter.

Any certifications such as first aid courses will be a big plus.
