Harambee Stars came from two goals down to draw with The Gambia at the Alassane Ouattara stadium in Abidjan on Thursday night.

The game went into a halftime with the two teams tied at nil-nil after Stars keeper Ian Otieno saved a penalty to ensure the scores remain 0-0.

However, in the second half, Gambia drew first blood with Saudi Pro League forward Musa Barrow scoring in the 56th minute before The Gambia doubled their lead through Brighton's right winger Yankuba Minteh in the 61th minute.

All was doom and gloom as Kenya was headed to their third defeat in the World Cup qualifiers but Kenya's St Mirren Midfielder Jonah Ayunga was fouled in the box winning Kenya a penalty that was calmly slotted in by Stars Captain Micheal Olunga to keep the game at 2- 1 in the 69th minute.

Six minutes later, Kenya Police attacking midfielder Mohammed Omar Bajaber produced a moment of brilliance and scored a spectacular curler to level the score at 2-2.

Stars kept pushing for a winner but Gambia stroke again in the 84th minutes through Barrow to restore the host's lead.

The goal did not kill the spirit of Kenyan mentality monsters- Harambee Stars. 

The Benni McCarthy boys kept pushing and their press paid off in the final minutes as Australian based Midfielder Wilson Lenkupae scored in the dying minutes (96th minute) to level the match at 3-3.

The results mean Stars leave Gambia with a point leaving them 4th in Group F, giving McCarthy his first draw as the Stars head Coach.

For any Kenyan football fan who watched the match, the display by the Harambee Stars tonight from the sleek passes, calm finishes and mentality is a sign of the greater things to come.
