second on the National Super League (NSL) table.
The Embu-based
side dislodged Mombasa United following a hard-fought 2-1
win over Fortune Sacco in the Majirani derby.
Migori Youth lead the log with 68 points, 3K FC have 65 points, the same as Mombasa United.
Equity Bank are fourth with 63 points with the
Michael Olunga Foundation Academy (MOFA) closing the top five with 57 after 31 rounds.
Mombasa
suffered a shock 3-0 defeat to former Premier League side FC Talanta to leave newly appointed coach Peter Okidi winless.
3K coach
Nicodemus Omatete believes they are firmly in the promotion and title conversation in their second attempt. They made their debut in the second tier last season.
“We are not just in the race for promotion but
also in the NSL title,” said a confident Omatete.
They face Kibera Black Stars in Nairobi this weekend.
“Our target is to win all our remaining six games,” said
Omasete.
Meanwhile, Migori Youth
coach Sammy Owano said they are under pressure to gain promotion, but
insisted they are still focused.
“I will
continue to motivate them to win the remaining games. I don’t want the pressure
to take a toll on them,” said Owano.
Kabati Youth
moved out of the danger zone after battling to a 1-1 draw against Kisumu All
Stars.
Darajani
Gogo took Kabati's slot in the danger zone after a 4-0 drubbing defeat to Equity
Bank.
The Kibera-based
side, alongside Mwatate United, Mully Children’s Family (MCF), and Vihiga
United, are in the red zone.
Darajani
Gogo, under coach Ken Kenyatta, are 17th on the table with 28 points, Mwatate United follow with 25, then MCF FC (24). Vihiga United prop the table with 23 points.
Kenyatta was
recently appointed alongside Caleb Aringa to save the Kibera based side from
the drop.
