Mugithi maestro Samuel Muchoki, popularly
known as Samidoh, on Friday became the talk of the town over some of his recent
actions.
It all started with a post by the
singer on social media celebrating his estranged wife, Edday Nderitu, as she
marked her birthday.
Edday currently lives in the United
States.
Before this heat could cool down, Kenyans on social media spheres were at it again.
This time, however, it was a
cryptic post by the singer talking about death.
The post can be summarised as
Samidoh saying that in case he dies before his time, he lived to the fullest,
tried his best, and should be remembered as a heart that burned with a flame.
The singer later deleted the post,
but screenshots of his message have since gone viral.
This has left many Kenyans asking
questions over what is going on with the singer, with many only speculating.
Most X users who have commented on
the post speculate on intimidation, while a few think it is clout chasing.
Another section has linked it to his
recent performance, where a video of him asking revellers to say ‘Wantam’ as he
performed has emerged. The word is used by the opposition to refer to ‘One
Term’.
It has been used against President
William Ruto, with the opposition calling for unity to make Ruto a one-term
(wantam) president.
Following Samidoh’s cryptic post,
here is how some Kenyans have reacted:
"It seems someone is
threatening Benga artist Samidoh and his brother," Mathenge Karungu said.
"What is eating Mugithi music
star Samidoh... these are suicide thoughts," Coletta Aluda said.
Starehe MP Amos Mwago said,
"Can someone check on Samidoh, is he okay?"
"Samidoh is offline after
posting this last night. Praying he is safe. From the comments I read before
the post was deleted, Kenyans are standing with Samidoh against intimidation,"
Maina Ndung'u said.
"Samidoh is going through a lot
na I know ni ile wimbo aliimba," said one Afande Jaymo.
"What's going on with Samidoh
ama ni clout chasing? But seems like some serious issue," Cathy Mutuku
said.
