Political activist and Inject Party
leader Kebaso Morara has defended himself against recent criticism he has
received, insisting that he is only doing what Kenyans asked of him.
In a statement on Tuesday, Morara
said the people had asked him to be consistent in his quest to liberate the
country, and that is what he is doing.
He questioned whether they had
changed their minds after asking him not to work with opposition politicians.
“Fellow Kenyans, you are the ones
who told me to be consistent. Have you changed your mind? Are we on the same
page? You told me that we should reject tribalism as a qualification for
leadership. You told me that we should reject the use of stolen money in
campaigns. You told me that we should not recycle old, failed politicians into
government. You told me that you are looking for young, transformative
leadership. Have you changed your mind? I am doing what you told me to do,” he
said.
Morara was responding to critics who
called him out for showing dalliance with the same politicians he was now
calling out.
He explained that it is the same
people who asked him to work with other leaders, but said he did not find any
value in working with the opposition leaders.
“Yes, they told me to stop working
alone and work with other leaders. I tried, but I couldn’t find values or
vision to align with. I had to leave. I am still looking for leaders of
integrity to work with.”
On Tuesday, Morara termed the
meeting between former Interior CS Fred Matiang’i and other opposition leaders
as unity without purpose. Former CSs Mithika Linturi and Justin Muturi were
also present.
He insisted that Kenyans must reject
their unity as it only amounts to the recycling of leaders rejected by Kenyans.
“This is unity without vision, unity
without purpose. I urge all the young people of Kenya to reject this coalition.
Let all young leaders come together and chart a new path for Kenya. I am ready
to sit down with progressive leaders who lack the experience of theft. We will
not recycle the problem to solve the problem,” Morara said.
He reiterated that the opposition
leaders have no vision save for removing Ruto from office.
