Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has reiterated his commitment to supporting and defending President William Ruto even as he implements his development agenda for the people of Kenya.
Speaking in Ngarachi, Laikipia County, Kindiki claimed some people, whom he did not mention, have been urging him to fight the Head of State.
The DP, however, said he has remained firm in sticking to his core mandate of supporting and defending the president.
“Some people are advising me to fight the President. My job is to support the President, to defend him, to work under him with my colleagues to make sure we follow through the President's promises and deliver development to the people of Kenya,” Kindiki said on Tuesday.
He also assured President Ruto that he will remain firm and stand against such forces.
“I assure you I will be a steady assistant, a steady deputy, right behind you firmly and together with my colleagues, we are going to deliver Kenya to the Promised Land under your leadership.”
The Deputy President further noted that together with members of the Cabinet and all state officers, including those elected to represent the people, they are focused on serving the people.
“I assure you, Mr President, that together with the CSs, PSs and all government officers and elected members of our coalition, we will not waste time trying to argue and fight with the people who have no agenda for the country. We will not waste time fighting with people who can't tell what they have done for the people,” Kindiki added.
President William Ruto and the DP began a weeklong tour of the Mt Kenya region on Tuesday.
The visit started with a series of engagements lined up for Laikipia County.
The tour follows an extensive visit of Nairobi county by the President and his deputy.
