The MoD has stated that the items will be sold on an "as-is, where-is" basis, meaning they will be transferred in their current condition without warranties regarding quality or fitness.

Viewing of the items will be from April 7 to April 25, 2025, on weekdays, excluding public holidays, from 9am to 4pm at designated locations.

The locations include DEFOD - Kahawa, 12 Engrs – Thika, 23 OCC - Lanet, Nanyuki region (43 OCC) and Coastal Region (Kenya Navy Base Mtongwe and Mariakani Garrison).

The auction at KNB Mtongwe will be led by M/S Garam Auctioneers, while the sale at 43 OCC Nanyuki will be handled by M/S View Line Auctioneers.

M/S Philips Auctioneers will oversee the process at DEFOD Kahawa, while M/S J K Wanderi Auctioneers will manage the auction at 23 OCC Lanet.

Interested bidders will be required to pay a refundable bid number deposit of Sh50,000 for vehicles and equipment and Sh30,000 for general stores before the last day of viewing.

Each bid number will be valid for only one lot.

The original catalogue and receipts for both the catalogue and bid number deposit must be presented at the entrance to participate in the auction.

The auctions will take place on April 29 at KNB Mtongwe, May 6 at 43 OCC Nanyuki, May 13 at 23 OCC Lanet, and May 20 at DEFOD Kahawa, all starting at 10am.

Successful bidders will be required to pay a 25 percent deposit immediately after the auction, with the remaining balance due within 14 days.

Failure to complete the payment will result in the cancellation of the award and forfeiture of the deposit.

Unsuccessful bidders will be refunded upon presenting their original receipts.

Once full payment is made, successful bidders must collect their items within 30 days.

Items not collected within this period will incur a storage charge of one percent of the bid price per day for up to three months, after which they will be forfeited along with any payments made. Buyers will also be responsible for any applicable duties, VAT, and other related charges in accordance with government regulations.

The Ministry of Defence has set a reserve price for the auctioned items and reserves the right to reject bids below this amount without providing reasons.

Buyers of ex-military vehicles will be required to repaint them in non-military color patterns before putting them on the road.

Vehicles must not be operated with ex-military number plates, as failure to comply will result in immediate impoundment.

All successful bidders must also obtain clearance from the Kenya Revenue Authority before collecting their items from the sale yard.
