The Country Attaché of the United States Drug Enforcement Administration (US DEA), Karl Ash, paid a courtesy call to the Inspector General (IG) of Police, Douglas Kanja, at the National Police Service Headquarters at Jogoo House A in Nairobi on Friday. 

The meeting focused on a majority of issues that defined the long-lasting collaboration between the National Police Service (NPS) and the US DEA in their fight against narcotic-related criminals. 

The County Attaché commended the NPS for efforts in fighting narcotics in the country. 

Furthermore, he assured to offer support to the NPS, where they will provide training, provision of equipment, and intelligence sharing, all geared towards bolstering law enforcement capabilities.

The Inspector General appreciated the wholehearted assistance and key contributions they received from the US DEA over the past years. 

The US DEA's support has been fundamental in shaping the service's ability to carry out its functions. 

Kanja dwelled on NPS's determination to collaborate with stakeholders to combat this menace and create a drug-free, safe environment. 

During this visit, Ash was accompanied by the Drug Enforcement Administration Special Agent, Mathias Walls, and Drug Enforcement Investigator, Ruth Muinde.

Other officials who joined the IG include Principal Assistant to the IG, Matthew Kutoh, Senior Assistant Inspector General (SAIG), Director of the Anti-Narcotics Unit, Samuel Laboso, Commissioner of Police (CP), and Rodgers Gathuku, Superintendent of Police (SP) from the Directorate of Corporate Communication.
