President William Ruto and his deputy, Kithure Kindiki, have arrived at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) ahead of the unveiling of a political pact with former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
The deal to be unveiled is set to bring Raila into government.
The event comes days after Raila had a series of consultations with his party supporters across the country.
On Friday morning, the two leaders chaired separate meetings with their allied leaders to brief them on the agreement.
Ruto had earlier presided over a Parliamentary Group meeting to defend the cooperation agreement and reassure his MPs amid reports of expected government changes to accommodate ODM.
As part of the deal, Kenya Kwanza has already ceded several parliamentary committee leadership positions to ODM, and Raila is expected to nominate more allies to the cabinet.
Meanwhile, Raila chaired the CMC meeting at a Nairobi hotel, where key party stalwarts are being briefed on the agreement with Ruto.
The CMC comprises top ODM officials, including the Chairperson, Secretary-General, Deputy Party Leaders, National Treasurer, and Executive Director.
Raila had, a day before the unveiling of the pact, concluded a weeklong countrywide tour consulting his supporters, wrapping up with a meeting of top Nairobi County party leaders at the Kenya International Convention Centre on Thursday night.
Raila had told his supporters that he would not join hands with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua but instead work with the government to stabilise the country.
During his consultations, Raila reassured his supporters that he remains ready to contribute whenever needed and promised to announce his next political move soon.
"We are available to help the continent of Africa, but more importantly, we are also available for Kenya. I’m back home, and I will be meeting with my friends and supporters," Raila said on February 24.
"I am going to consult widely, and in due course, we will announce our way forward. Just watch this space—I will be speaking again."
