Saboti MP Caleb Amisi has hit out at critics who are blaming ODM leader Raila Odinga following his political stance and the looming 50-50 deal with President William Ruto.

Ruto and Raila are expected to sign a cooperation deal at the Kenyatta International Convention Center (KICC).

Some Kenyans have however frowned upon the collaboration.

MP Amisi came to Raila’s defence, shifting the blame to those who did not vote for him during the past presidential races.

“I don't blame Raila at all. I blame those who have consistently refused to vote for him five times he has presented himself on the ballot,” he said.

“He is a human being, not an angel. Let's leave Baba to rest and let youths go to the street and continue the fight for a better Kenya.”

Amisi said it is “obnoxious” – extremely unpleasant – to continue blaming Raila, as “it only shows how weak you are and how dependent you are on him’

The MP warned those against the ODM boss, to leave his name out and go out there and fight for the Kenya they want.

He went on to state that every generation has fought and done what needed to be done.

Amisi noted that there were young leaders who fought for independence and they won, others fought for multipartism and achieved, and others fought for adoption of the 2010 constitution.

“So, don't expect the same people to fight for the 21st century economic emancipation, they are not sempiternal and nobody was born to fight for all generations while you flatten around in night clubs,” he added.

Oxford dictionary defines sempiternal as eternal and unchanging; everlasting.

He called on the critics to wake up and fight for the country and leave Raila to rest.

“He did his part, and if you think he did not do enough, forgiveness is an option, but a bad government is not an option,” he said.

Sources said in the deal, Raila will control 50 per cent of government and is expected to nominate at least three more Cabinet Secretaries.

“The President knows that Raila is a nationalist. His appointments will reflect the face of Kenya,” a source said, adding that the new agreement is akin to the National Accord of 2008 when Raila and President Mwai Kibaki shared government.
