Nairobi and its neighbouring counties will be sunny for the better part of Thursday and Friday.
A weather forecast for the two days released by the Kenya Meteorology Department, however, indicates that these areas are expected to receive light to moderate rainfall by afternoon and evening.
Some areas, it said, could receive heavy rainfall of 20mm and isolated storms.
Kenya Met has urged citizens to stay prepared: “Be weather-aware and ready for potential disruptions.”
In a recent weather forecast by the Kenya Met, sunny conditions were predicted to persist in several parts of the country.
The Kenya Meteorological Department, however, added that occasional light to moderate rainfall may be experienced over a few regions.
This includes the Highlands West and East of the Rift Valley, Lake Victoria Basin, South Rift Valley, the Coastal region and the Southeastern lowlands.
There will be sunny intervals over Lake Victoria Basin, the Central and South Rift Valley, and parts of the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the weatherman said.
The department said mornings will mainly have sunny intervals, though a few areas over the South Rift Valley and Lake Victoria Basin may experience rains on Thursday.
Occasional afternoon showers and thunderstorms are expected over a few places.
Nights are expected to be partly cloudy, though a few areas in Narok and Lake Victoria Basin may experience occasional showers.
Kenya Met said northwestern Kenya will have sunny days and partly cloudy nights.
The Highlands East of the Rift Valley (including Nairobi County) will have sunny intervals in the morning.
The weatherman said nights are expected to be partly cloudy, though a few areas may have showers on Friday.
In the North-eastern Kenya (Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, and Isiolo Counties), sunny intervals are expected during the day, while nights are likely to be partly cloudy.
Sunny conditions will prevail during the days at the South-eastern lowlands (Machakos, Kitui, Makueni, Kajiado and Taita-Taveta Counties as well as the inland parts of Tana-River County).
However, a few areas may have occasional light showers in the afternoons.
Kenya Met said nights are expected to be partly cloudy, though a few areas in Kajiado, especially those bordering Tanzania, may experience occasional showers.
In the Coast region (Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu and Kwale Counties as well as the coastal parts of Tana River County), sunny intervals are expected to prevail during the day.
However, a few areas may experience occasional morning showers, which may extend to early afternoon. Nights are expected to be partly cloudy.
