Former LSK President Nelson Havi/ HANDOUT

Former Law Society of Kenya (LSK) President Nelson Havi has stated that he will move to court seeking to put an end to the rising cases of abduction.

Havi said he is in Nairobi to tackle the menace, clarifying that he will not be taking to the streets either on Monday or any other day.

I will not be in the streets today or ever. I will be in Court for legal redress of the issue which has become a pandemic,” he said.

While in court, Havi said he would seek the removal of Deputy President Kithure Kindiki and Interior CS Kipchumba Murkomen from the Roll of Advocates.

He did not give reasons why he wants the two struck out from the list.

I will also pursue the removal of Kindiki Kithure and Kipchumba Murkomen from the Roll of Advocates,” Havi said.

The cases of abduction have been a major concern in the country after six people disappeared in December 2024.

So far, four of them have been released including Billy Mwangi, Peter Muteti, Bernard Kavuli and Rony Kiplangat.

Officials said Rony was found in Machakos County and Kavuli, who was abducted in Ngong found in Kitale.

Muteti was found in Nairobi CBD and witnesses said he was disoriented and now recovering from home.

However, the whereabouts of cartoonist Gideon Kibet alis Kibet Bull, Rony’s brother, remain unknown.

Steve Mbisi, who has also been reported missing, is yet to be found.

Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja is expected to appear in court on January 8 to explain the whereabouts of the individuals.

On December 26, 2024, Kanja denied any police involvement in the abductions, saying they arrest criminal offenders through lawful procedures, not to abduct citizens.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the National Police Service is not involved in any abduction, and there is no police station in the country holding the reported abductees,” he said.

Kanja said the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) and other independent bodies are investigating the claims of abductions.
