The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has established the official guidelines and spending ceilings for the upcoming 2027 General Election.

The roadmap outlines that the official campaign period will commence on May 29, 2027, and conclude on August 7, 2027, precisely 48 hours before voters head to the polls on General Election Day, scheduled for August 10, 2027.

Among the directives, the electoral body released a ranking of counties with the highest campaign spending limits allowed for political contestants.

Turkana County tops the list with the largest allowable expenditure cap at Sh123 million. Nairobi County closely follows in second place, with a spending ceiling fixed at Sh117 million, while Marsabit County ranks third with a cap of Sh114 million.

Wajir County also crosses the hundred-million threshold, coming in fourth with a designated spending limit of Sh103 million.

Other regions featured in the top rankings show slightly lower but substantial limits. Garissa County places fifth with a cap of Sh88.7 million, followed by Nakuru County at Sh72.2 million.

Tana River County sits at seventh with an allowed expenditure of Sh68.4 million. The final positions on the highest-spending list are occupied by Kajiado County at Sh66 million and Kilifi County at Sh61.9 million.

These financial regulations and timeline thresholds serve to govern political candidate financing and campaign operations across the nation ahead of the August vote.
