Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru has dismissed viral social media claims alleging that she has separated from her husband, constitutional lawyer Kamotho Waiganjo.

In a post on Saturday, June 27, Waiguru brushed off the rumours in a light-hearted tone, saying she could not be “dumped” in the cold weather of Gichugu.

“Ati nimewachwa, siwezi kubali kuwachwa na hii baridi yote ya Gichugu,” she posted, tagging Waiganjo.

The claims, which circulated widely across social media platforms, alleged that the couple had quietly ended their marriage after several years together.

The unverified posts also shared a detailed narrative of how the two reportedly met during the constitution-making period in 2009, when they are said to have worked as consultants in the process leading to Kenya’s 2010 Constitution.

The viral account further claimed that their relationship developed over time, including alleged meetings in Nairobi and a subsequent engagement ceremony in 2019, before suggesting that the two had since separated.

However, Waiguru’s remarks appeared to directly counter the speculation, effectively dismissing the reports and signalling that the claims were unfounded.
