The Linda Mwananchi political movement is set to hold a rally in Kiambu County on June 14 as it intensifies mobilisation efforts across the region.

The faction, which brings together a group of opposition leaders, said it will pitch tent in Thika as part of its planned engagements in the county.

“Kiambu County! Date is June 14,” the movement announced, signalling its next major stop in its ongoing political tours.

The Kiambu engagements come days after the group conducted a similar mobilisation tour in Machakos County on Sunday, May 31, where leaders traversed several towns in a day-long political campaign.

The leaders began their tour with a church service at AIC Kyanda Church in Mutituni, Machakos Town Sub-county, before proceeding to public engagements in Mutituni, Machakos and Mlolongo towns across Machakos and Mavoko constituencies.

Among those present during the Machakos tour were Siaya Governor James Orengo, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, Matungulu MP Stephen Mule, Mavoko MP Patrick Makau, Suba South MP Caroli Omondi, and Kaiti MP Joshua Kimilu, alongside other allied leaders.

The leaders interacted with residents during stopovers, with the tours widely viewed as part of efforts to strengthen grassroots support ahead of future political alignments.

The Linda Mwananchi movement has in recent weeks stepped up its county-wide mobilisation drives, signalling an intensifying political atmosphere as parties and alliances position themselves ahead of the next election cycle.

The group has consistently framed its outreach as a populist campaign for governance, accountability and economic justice, tapping public anger over food, fuel and utility prices.

On the same day in Kisumu, the party's official camp which recently abandoned the "Linda Ground" slogan - mounted a large rally under the banner "Wabiro Kisumu."

The event drew thousands of supporters and county leaders from Kisumu, Homa Bay, Migori, Siaya and Kisii, signalling a consolidated show of strength in the party's traditional stronghold.

ODM chairperson Gladys Wanga earlier explained the shift away from the Linda Ground branding saying the party will "stick strictly to its official identity, colours, and name," stressing that the orange brand of ODM must not be diluted by offshoot campaigns.

Wanga asserted unity under party patriarch Oburu Oginga and warned members against using confusing or unofficial campaign materials.

"We had created the Linda Ground movement to consolidate our support base, but some people came and tried to imitate it with different versions. We have now left that behind. We are ODM and the colour is orange," Wanga told delegates.
