Giraffe Manor in Nairobi and Solio Lodge in Laikipia have been named among the 20 properties featured in the 2025 Forbes Travel Guide Edge List.

Acknowledging this, Tourism CS Rebecca Miano said the “global recognition for Kenyan hospitality is a testament to Kenya's place in the global stage!”

“Plan and come home!” she welcomed tourists.

The Edge List, released on Wednesday, celebrates properties that deliver unmatched luxury in extraordinary settings.

The inclusion of Giraffe Manor and Solio Lodge underscores Kenya’s reputation as a hub for luxury travel that integrates conservation, wildlife encounters, and cultural experiences.

Giraffe Manor, part of The Safari Collection, is famous for its herd of Rothschild’s giraffes that interact with guests during breakfast and afternoon tea. 

Solio Lodge, situated in Solio Game Reserve, is renowned for its rhino conservation efforts and intimate safari experience.

Honourees were chosen through in-person visits by Forbes Travel Guide’s incognito inspectors or editorial team, alongside inspection data and research.

The list spans over 10 countries, with animal encounter, beach adventures, cultural immersion, natural wonders, ocean expeditions and wilderness retreats.

The other 18 honorees include NIHI Sumba in Indonesia, One&Only Gorilla’s Nest in Rwanda, Elephants Hill in Khao Sok, Thailand.

Others are Nujuma, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve in Red Sea, Saudi Arabia, The Brando in Tetiaroa, French Polynesia, Phulay Bay, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve in Krabi, Thailand, Southern Ocean Lodge in Kangaroo Island, Australia.

Still, Forbes listed Mandapa, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, Bali, Tambo del Inka, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa in Urubamba, Peru, Fogo Island Inn in Newfoundland, Canada.

Turneffe Island Resort, Belize, Hotel das Cataratas, A Belmond Hotel, Iguassu Falls, Argos in Cappadocia, Turkey, Four Seasons Explorer, Palau, Silver Origin, Ponant Le Commandant Charcot.

Wickaninnish Inn in Vancouver Island, Canada and Cloud Camp, Colorado Springs, are also included in the list.

The Forbes list encourages travellers to trade tourist traps for untamed wilderness, swap selfie spots for soul-stirring encounters and experience comfort in places where amenities are not easily found.

Forbes Travel Guide explained that the name EDGE is an acronym reflecting four pillars that guided the 2025 selections.

These are Exceptional access to remote, awe-inspiring destinations, Daring innovation in providing boundary-pushing adventures, Global stewardship that prioritises conservation and maximises care for local communities, and Elevated experiences, ensuring excellence even in far-flung environments.
