
Police are investigating murder after the body of a man who had been missing for weeks was found in a family borehole in Ndurumo area Rumuruti, Laikipia County.
The deceased, identified as Joseph Mwangi, 24, left his
father's home at Kaaga village on June 11 2025, appearing normal, and did not
return home.
He was reported as a missing person on June 27.
The body was found in the borehole by a worker who had
been assigned duties there two days later.
This was after a foul smell emanating from the borehole
disturbed him, he said.
He went to check the source of the smell when he saw the body floating, police said.
The decomposed body was retrieved and taken to the
mortuary.
Police said they are investigating to establish whether the man
drowned or was killed and dumped there.
The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy and
investigations.
Elsewhere, detectives are investigating murder after a
naked body of a man was found at the City Park, Parklands in Nairobi.
The body was discovered by a member of the public on June 29
at about 4 pm.
Police said the body had decomposed by the time it was
discovered, while half-naked.
The cause of the man's death was not immediately established, police said as they added investigations into the murder are
ongoing.
The body with visible injuries on the face was moved to
the mortuary pending identification and autopsy.
The motive of the murder is also yet to be known.
Elsewhere, police are investigating an incident in which
the body of a five-year-old girl was found floating on Ngong River in Komola
area, Savanah in Nairobi.
The body with bruises on the head, legs and back was
retrieved and moved to the City morgue pending autopsy and identification.
Police said they suspect the girl was murdered and the
body was dumped in the waters.
A probe into the incident is ongoing, police said.
