Deputy President Kithure Kindiki had a busy week that saw him hold key meetings, including accompanying his boss, William Ruto, during his tour of Narok county.

Kindiki on Monday laughed off the opposition unity after the leaders gathered at the home of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, in Wamunyoro, Nyeri county.

“We have no time to waste. I have seen some people mocking us that we don’t know how to campaign, that they know politics. My friends, the Bible says that there is a time and season for everything. This is the time for work, not the time to fight over who will have what position,’’ he said.

He spoke when he addressed an economic empowerment forum in Igegania in Gatundu North, Kiambu county.

Kindiki said that when the time for politics comes, they will battle it out with the opposition, who he said will be in a rude shock.

The DP was later in the week in Narok county during President Ruto’s tour of the county.

While he did not join Ruto on his first day of the tour, he was present on Wednesday, May 7, as the President toured various parts of the county.

He joined the President in the issuance of title deeds to the people of Enkoireroi-Olderkesi, in what he said was the fulfilment of the commitments the government made to Kenyans in resolving all outstanding land ownership grievances.

Kindiki also joined President Ruto in witnessing the start of the construction to bitumen standards of the critical Ng'osuani- Naikarra- Leshuta- Morijo road in Narok West Constituency and the 28km Sogoo-Kimogoro-Melelo-Ololung’a road in Narok South Constituency, Narok county.

“It is time to serve and to develop our country, when it will be the time for campaigns, we shall equally be ready,’’ Kindiki said.

In Narok West Constituency, President Ruto laid the foundation stone for the construction of Amalo Subcounty Level IV hospital in Sogoo.

Kindiki said the hospital will ease the burden for at least 2,500 people who for years have been forced to incur travel costs as they sought radiology, surgery and specialised medical services in other parts of Narok County and neighbouring counties.

“To enhance security and easier access to government services and opportunities, we are constructing an administration block in Narok West and deploying officers to serve residents from close proximity,’’ he said.

On May 6, Kindiki received progress report from the Technical Working Group on the realignment of development partner programmes with the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA) PLAN.

He said its finalisation will assist the government to assure value for money, impact and transparency in the application of development partner programmes and projects across priority areas key to the transformation of Kenya.

In general, Kindiki dismissed early political campaigns, saying the Kenya Kwanza administration is focused on delivering its development agenda and will not be swayed by political brokers pushing for premature electioneering.

“It is wrong to drag Kenyans into unnecessary and premature political debates when there is still so much work to be done. We are not interested in 2027 politics right now,” said the Deputy President.

“We will be judged on what we have done—on whether we completed development projects, created jobs, and reduced the cost of living,” he said in Kiambu
