Police are investigating a case where a woman sustained fractures after jumping from the fourth floor of a building in Mihango, Kayole, Nairobi.

A suspect was arrested after the woman claimed he allegedly tried to rape her in the house on Sunday night, police said.

The woman told police she was with the suspect in the house when a confrontation broke out.

She added the suspect allegedly attempted to rape her prompting her to run to the balcony and later jumped off to the ground floor.

Security guards at the apartment picked up the woman and rushed her to the nearby hospital as others detained the suspect and called the police.

Police said they are investigating the incident. The team that visited the scene and the victim in the hospital said she had fractures on her legs.

Meanwhile, a suspected thug was shot and injured in a confrontation with police following a botched robbery in Majengo slums.

Police said they recovered a homemade gun from the suspect.

According to police, two suspects had confronted a woman at her hotel on Monday evening as she closed for the day.

The two had posed as customers before one of them drew a pistol and demanded the day’s collection.

The woman told police she managed to sneak out of the facility as the gunmen focused on other customers who were present and alerted police on patrol.

The team rushed to the scene, prompting a chase and shooting.

The officers said they shot and injured one suspect who dropped a pistol and a kitchen knife.

He managed to escape with injuries.

The police are appealing to local clinics and hospitals to report any case of an injured man seeking medical attention.

Police say they have intensified operations in the city to address cases of violent robberies.

This has led to the arrest of tens of suspects, police said.
