Two people have died in a grisly road accident in Matungulu, Machakos County.
The duo died after the motorbike they were riding on got involved in an accident with vehicle along the Nairobi-Kangundo Road in the Savanna area, Matungulu subcounty, on Monday evening.
Police said the two, the rider and his pillion passenger, died on the spot after the accident occurred.
"There was a fatal road accident between a motorcycle and private motorvehicle of Voxy make that occurred along Kangundo Road near Savanna Lodge," a police report seen by the Star read in part.
"The rider and his pillion passenger died on the spot. Upon search by the traffic officers, the riders were found in possession of approximately 2kgs of bhang," the police report stated.
The deceased persons, according to police, are suspected to be residents of the Kinyui location in Matungulu subcounty.
The bhang was confiscated by police officers.
Both the car and motorcycle wreckage were towed to Tala police station pending further police actions.
Police said the bodies were removed to Kangundo Level 4 Hospital mortuary awaiting an autopsy and identification.
Police have launched investigations into the accident.
