Rainfall is expected to continue across the country, according to the Kenya Meteorological Department’s five-day weather forecast.

The forecast also indicated that isolated heavy rainfall events are likely over some areas, including the Highlands east and west of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, Rift Valley, South-eastern lowlands, the Coast and parts of north-eastern and north-western Kenya.

Showers and thunderstorms are anticipated over several areas, including Kakamega, Vihiga, Busia, Bungoma, Kisumu, Kisii, Nyamira, Migori, Siaya, Homa Bay, Kericho, Nandi, Bomet, Nakuru, Elgeyo Marakwet, West Pokot, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, Trans Nzoia and Narok.

These regions will experience rain, with some areas seeing breaks into sunny intervals. Showers and thunderstorms are expected to intensify in the afternoon.

Isolated showers and thunderstorms will occur in the afternoon. In Marsabit, Garissa, Mandera, Wajir and Isiolo counties, rainfall will be confined to a few places during the night.

According to the IGAD Climate Prediction and Application Centre seasonal rainfall forecast for April to June, drier-than-usual conditions are expected over south-eastern Ethiopia, central to southern Somalia, eastern Kenya and isolated areas of western Uganda and South Sudan.
