A six-year-old boy died after being choked by a mango seed in Pipeline area, in Nairobi.

Police and his family said he was eating a mango that he got from his neighbour on Monday afternoon when he suddenly developed breathing difficulties.

His friends raised an alarm prompting the neighbours to rush him to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival, police said.

Doctors at the facility said he was choked probably by the mango seed that slid into his throat as he fed on it.

He was pronounced dead at the Mama Lucy Hospital.

The body was preserved at the same facility. His parents were devastated by the news.

Police said a postmortem will be conducted on the body to tell more on how he died.

Elsewhere in the Parklands area, a man identified as Joseph Ochieng, 28, died after falling from the 16th floor of a building under construction.

The deceased was preparing column kickers when he accidentally slid and fell off, police and witnesses said.

He landed on the ground and died on the spot, Nairobi police boss Goerge Sedah said.

Police were called to the scene and processed it pending autopsy at the mortuary where the body was moved.

Police said they are investigating the incident.

It is the latest to happen in the construction sector amid calls to enhance the safety of workers at such sites.

Officials from the police, counties and National Construction Authority are investigating such incidents reported in the past.

Elsewhere in Kiambiu, Nairobi, a man collapsed and died.

He was later identified as Simon Makunda, 51.

Witnesses said he was walking to his house when he collapsed and died.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy and other investigations.
