WED for Sustainable Development is one of the UNESCO international days celebrated every year on March 4.

It was proclaimed by the UNESCO General Conference on November 25, 2019, based on a proposal by the World Federation of Engineering Organisations (WFEO).

This year’s 2025 theme, “Shaping Our Sustainable Future Through Engineering”, underscores how engineering plays a critical role in achieving the United Nations' 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The procession will culminate in an event to be held at Daystar University, Valley Road, in Nairobi.

Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK) chairperson Erastus Mwongera said that during this day, they sensitise young people in learning institutions, create awareness to engineers and take stock of what has been achieved.

EBK is mandated to keep and maintain the register of engineers in the country and evaluate other engineering programmes, both local and foreign,n for recognition by the Board, among others.
