Speaker of the National Assembly Moses Wetang'ula has led the MPs in mourning Malava lawmaker Moses Malulu Injendi, who died after a short illness.
The late Injendi, who served three terms in Parliament,
passed away on Monday at Aga Khan Hospital, Nairobi.
Speaking at the deceased's residence in South C, Wetang'ula described Injendi as a fair leader and a bringer of unity, who had a great contribution in the formulation of parliamentary policies.
"Malulu Injendi was one of the most respected Members of Parliament, known for his discipline, his dedication to parliamentary debates, and his committee work. As the deputy chairman of the Education Committee, he participated greatly in making policies that brought benefits to our nation," said Wetang'ula.
Other MPs who gathered to console the family of the deceased described him as a selfless leader, who worked tirelessly to uplift the lives of the people of Malava and strengthen unity in Parliament.
Many admitted that he was a leader who provided services to Kenya without getting involved in politics of conflict.
"He was a mediator, a leader who could unite people through his wise speeches. In my time as Speaker, I have never heard Malulu Injendi having a conflict with any Member of Parliament," Wetang'ula added.
His colleagues in the National Assembly described him as a voice of wisdom, who fought for the best policies in the education sector and defended the interests of his citizens with great integrity.
Parliament has promised to provide full support to the family of the deceased as they prepare for his funeral.
The funeral is expected to be attended by political leaders
from all corners of the country, to show their respect for the leader who left
an indelible mark in the history of law and politics in Kenya.
