NCBA Kabete Open 2026 Champion John Kamaisi in action during the final round of the NCBA Kabete Open at VetLab/HANDOUT Sports Club
Kenya Amateur Golf Championship (KAGC) Series leader John Kamaisi will be aiming to tighten his grip at the top of the standings when the NCBA Limuru Open & Brackenhurst Trophy tees off at Limuru Country Club on Friday.
The three-day tournament has attracted a strong field of 96 golfers, including second-placed Jay Sandhu, third-placed Elvis Muigua and Rwanda’s Jean D’Amour Hitayezu, who arrives in top form after winning last weekend’s NCBA Coast Open ‘Barry Cup’ in Mombasa.
Kamaisi leads the KAGC rankings with 809.20 points after finishing runner-up at the Coast Open. Sandhu is second on 640.00 points, Muigua is third with 495.26, Eugine Wafula sits fourth on 472.26, while William Odek completes the top five with 409.56 points.
The women’s field will be led by teenage stars Kanana Muthomi and Cherono Kipkorir, alongside Kellie Gachaga, Maryam Mwakitawa and Nancy Wairimu. Players from Rwanda, Zambia, Namibia, Botswana, Burundi, Uganda, India, Ghana, China and Serbia will also compete, giving the championship a strong regional and international flavour as they battle for a share of the KSh700,000 prize purse.
The Limuru Open remains a key stop on the KAGC calendar, offering valuable ranking points and another opportunity for the country’s leading amateurs to test themselves against elite regional competition.
Meanwhile, golfers will also be chasing places at the NCBA Golf Series Grand Finale during the Nyanza Golf Club Monthly Mug, a mini qualifier in the nationwide series.
The Overall Gross Winner, Men’s Gross Winner, Lady Gross Winner, Division Two Men’s Winner, Division Two Lady Winner, Division Three Winner and the leading Junior will qualify for the Grand Finale, scheduled for November 28 at Karen Country Club.
Elsewhere, the fifth leg of the 2026 PGK Equator Tour teed off at Ruiru Sports Club on Thursday and will run through to Sunday.
