Harambee Stars defender Abud Omar has completed a nostalgic return to Tusker FC, 11 years after leaving the Brewers, following a trophy-laden three-year spell with Kenya Police FC.
The left-back's arrival marks a major statement of intent from Tusker as the club builds a stronger squad ahead of the upcoming season.
With Omar in their ranks, Tusker have secured a proven guardian of the backline whose leadership and defensive intelligence could be the missing ingredients in their hunt for trophies.
Omar signed off his Police FC adventure in golden fashion, delivering a season of brilliance that saw him collect the MVP, top defender and best goal awards.
Beyond the personal accolades, Omar became a cornerstone of Police FC’s remarkable rise, playing a crucial role as the Law Enforcers captured their first-ever SportPesa Premier League title and Mozzart Bet Cup glory.
Closing the book on a successful journey, Omar reflected on a golden three-year era at the club that delivered cherished moments, deep connections and a legacy of unprecedented achievements.
"It’s with a heavy heart that I bid farewell to one of the most amazing teams I’ve ever had the privilege to play for in Kenya. Three unforgettable years, countless memories, incredible teammates, and trophies we proudly won together," Omar said.
The defender added that his journey at Police FC had shaped him both professionally and personally, while expressing optimism that their paths could cross again in the future.
"Every moment has shaped me, both as a footballer and as a person. As every chapter comes to an end, it’s time for us to part ways. This isn’t goodbye—it’s simply ‘see you again.’"
Omar also thanked the club’s players, technical staff, management and supporters for their faith and support throughout his stay, acknowledging their role in his success.
"To my teammates, coaches, management, the fans, and everyone at Kenya Police FC, thank you for believing in me and for making these three years so special. I will always be grateful," he added.
The return to Tusker marks another milestone in the career of one of Kenya’s most accomplished defenders. Omar first featured for the Brewers between 2013 and 2015 before embarking on a European adventure that saw him become the first Kenyan player to compete in Bulgaria’s top flight.
The Mombasa-born defender has also played for clubs in Greece, Belgium and Romania, including Slavia Sofia, Cercle Brugge, Sepsi OSK, Ionikos and AEL Larissa.
At international level, Omar has been a key figure for Harambee Stars since making his debut in 2012 and has regularly taken up leadership responsibilities, including captaining the national team in major assignments.
His return gives Tusker a proven winner as the Brewers seek to challenge for honours and make a strong impact in CAF competitions.
