Tusker FC head coach Charles Okere is convinced they have sharpened their talons well enough to see off Nairobi United in the crunch Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Cup Round of 32 as they train their sights on the continental stage.

Tusker will be right in the thick of things during the tournament’s pivotal phase, where every game promises to tell a tale of rivalry, ambition and the unwavering pursuit of victory.

The fate of the Ruaraka-based Brewers in Kenya’s second-most prestigious tournament will be decided in the fi erce match-up against the ambitious National Super League leaders at Dandora Stadium on Saturday.

Okere said they will be going for nothing short of a win but warned his players not to underestimate the gravity of the upcoming encounter.

He recognised the significance of the clash, describing it as a pivotal moment that could catapult Tusker back into the realm of continental competition.

“This is the surest way of securing a spot on the continental stage. It’s been long since we graced the international stage. We are looking forward to a historic qualification at the end of the season,” said Okere.

Okere said for Tusker FC, the road to continental competition is not merely a desire; it is a necessity.

“The club’s aspirations to return to the international stage are fueled by a longing to showcase talent on a broader platform. The FKF Cup represents a gateway to this ambition, and the players must recognise the weight of their responsibility,” Okere said.

Aware that each team enters the fray with dreams of glory and the potential for upsets looms large, Okere cautioned his charges to approach the match with humility, urging them not to rest on their laurels.

“I want them to remain vigilant and respectful of their opponents,” Okere said.

“While Nairobi United are a lower-tier team, we can’t afford to underestimate them. The nature of knockout competitions often brings unexpected twists, where underdogs can rise to the occasion and deliver stunning performances.”

In other matches, Denmark will take on Donholm Seniors at Kwale Stadium. Kariobangi Sharks will battle Zetech Titans at Dandora Stadium as Bandari host Al Azizia at Mbaraki Sports Club.

Hoha face KCB FC at Kipchoge Keino Stadium as MOFA, a side associated with Harambee Stars skipper Michael Olunga, settle scores with Police at Mambo Leo Stadium. Mara Sugar FC face AFC Leopards at the same venue later in the day at Mamboleo Stadium.
