Kenya Pipeline middle blocker Trizah Atuka has turned her focus on helping her team reclaim the Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) national league title from defending champions Kenya Commercial Bank.
Atuka was speaking after returning from Tunisia, where she was named among the tournament’s Best Middle Blockers at the 2025 African Women’s Volleyball Club Championship.
“It’s one day at a time. First up is the playoffs. We are going for the league title. World Championships with the national team is next, and we need to fight for ranking points and keep Kenya at the top. But we’re taking everything step by step,” she said.
Atuka’s standout performance earned her a place in the tournament’s top list — a feat she said reflected her journey from injury and the unwavering support she has received along the way.
“It’s a huge honour once again,” said the Kakamega-born star. “But this couldn’t be possible without the support from my teammates, coaches, and the KPC management. It’s been a long journey, but God has been faithful.”
She anchored Pipeline to a second consecutive bronze medal after guiding coach Geoffrey Omondi’s side to a straight-sets victory over Tunisia’s Carthage, winning 28-26, 25-14, 25-18 in the third-place playoff.
That win helped Pipeline recover from their fiery five-set semi-final loss to defending champions Zamalek, and secured the team’s eighth bronze in the history of the continental competition.
Atuka, who also captains the national team, was named among the top performers alongside Egypt’s May Abdelmaguid of Al Ahly.
Her latest accolade marked her third straight selection as the tournament’s best middle blocker, following similar recognition in 2023 in Tunisia and 2024 in Egypt.
Pipeline’s podium finish brought their total medal count at the African Club Championship to 21 — seven gold, six silver, and eight bronze — further underlining the team’s consistency on the continental stage.
