Kenya Ports Authority, General Service Unit and Kenya Prisons are part of the 26 clubs from across Africa that have registered for the prestigious continental event.

According to the Confederation of African Volleyball (CAVB), only 24 slots are available and teams have been urged to confirm participation by April 3.

“We appreciate all the clubs that have registered and we would like to remind them to expedite their final confirmation,” CAVB said in a statement. Kenya’s trio face stiff competition from North African powerhouses including defending champions Al Ahly Sporting Club, Zamalek Sporting Club (Egypt), Etoile Sportive du Sahel (Tunisia) and Mouloudia Sportive de Bou Salem (Tunisia).

KPA finished third last year after falling to Port Autonome de Douala (PAD) of Cameroon in the third/fourth place play-off.

Meanwhile, the second edition of Kenya Cup volleyball tournament is set for this week at the Kasarani Indoor Arena.

The event has attracted 10 men’s teams and seven women’s sides split into two pools each.
