Kenyan singer and songwriter Judith Nyambura, popularly known as Avril, has revealed that her inbox has lately been filled with romantic advances from younger men.

Speaking during an interview on Dr. Ofweneke Live on TV47, Avril said Gen Z men have been flocking to her direct messages with bold approaches.

“My DMs are a bit crazy,” she said with a laugh. “They are sending me crazy DMs. I don’t know what is up with y’all’s generation.”

The 40-year-old artist made it clear that she has no interest in dating younger men. “I am 40 years old. I’m old enough to be one of their moms,” she remarked.

Avril described herself as a “babygirl,” explaining that she prefers to be cared for in a relationship rather than taking on the role of caretaker.

“I’m in my feminine energy, I want to be treated like a princess,” she said.

The singer also disclosed that, despite being straight, she has received advances from women in the past.

Away from matters of the heart, Avril reflected on her music journey and the reasons behind her recent hiatus. She explained that her focus on her company, My Everything, kept her away from the studio for some time.

“I feel like my mind and my energy were really occupied by my company,” she revealed, adding that she even went back to school to study entrepreneurship to better manage the business.

Avril, who has been in the music industry for close to two decades, is the CEO of My Everything, a personal care products brand.

Her return to the music scene has already been felt. She recently featured in Kendi Kiremi’s remix of Confirm, which premiered on YouTube two weeks ago, and has resumed active stage performances.

With a career spanning nearly twenty years, Avril remains one of Kenya’s most recognisable music figures, balancing her entrepreneurial journey with a renewed focus on her artistry.
