Kenya is preparing to send an elite squad to the forthcoming World Athletics Relays in Guangzhou, China.
The World Athletics Relays, formerly known as the IAAF World Relays, are scheduled for May 10-11, 2025.
The annual team-based track and field event will serve as a qualification stage for the World Athletics Championships and Olympic Games.
In a statement on Tuesday, Athletics Kenya said it will hold trials for the World Athletics Relays on April 12, 2025, at the Nyayo National Stadium, Nairobi.
"This event is part of the broader preparations for the Road to Tokyo," AK said.
Tokyo will host the 20th edition of the 2025 World Athletics Championships from September 13 to 21 at the Japan National Stadium, marking the city's second time hosting the event.
The city last hosted the championships in 1991.
More than 2000 athletes from approximately 200 countries are expected to compete in 49 events across track and field, including sprints, long jump, pole vault, and race walks.
Kenyan trials for the World Athletics Relays will feature events including the men's and women's 4x100m and 4x400m, and the mixed 4x400m, a schedule released by AK shows.
The governing body said the trials will be by invitation only, with the list of invited athletes set to be released later.
