You can report outages in your area to Kenya Power by dialing *977# and track resolution progress.
Kenya Power says one can also report power failure through myPower App, which is available on the App Store and Google Play Store.
"When you contact Kenya Power with complaints, we shall either respond to you conclusively or provide a reference number for follow-up purposes within the stipulated resolution timelines," Kenya Power said on X.
The utility firm said they offer swift resolutions to customer complaints.
According to the company, to report an incident, dial *977#, select 'report incidences' then select the 'incident type' then the account type.
Proceed to key in the account number, choose the cause of the incident then select send.
"Upon completion, you will receive a reference number for the incident reported," Kenya Power said.
Currently, Kenya Power transmits, distributes, and retails electricity to over 9.6 million customers in Kenya.
The company offers two main types of accounts for its customers - prepaid and postpaid.
Each type has unique features and benefits that cater to different preferences and needs.
Prepaid accounts provide more control over spending and consumption, while postpaid accounts offer the convenience of using electricity first and paying later.
On the website, Kenya Power stated that the company is a publicly traded company with a diverse ownership structure.
The government holds a majority stake of 50.1 per cent while 49.9 per cent is owned by local and foreign investors.
"This blend of public and private investment ensures a balanced approach to governance and strategic planning, aligning national interests with global best practices," a statement on their website read.
The company usually issues advance public notices in case it plans to perform scheduled power interruption in a given area.
The interruptions are necessary to facilitate periodic system maintennace.
