Safari Rally 2025: City Hall way to be closed for 3 days

Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has announced a three-day closure of the City Hall Way, from City Hall Way Roundabout to Parliament Roundabout.

The closure will take effect on Monday at 8 pm to Thursday, March 20, 2025, at 3 pm.

The closure is occasioned by the WRC Safari Rally and will facilitate the setup and hosting of the rally’s opening ceremony.

“This closure will be in effect from Monday, March 17, 2025, at 8 pm to Thursday, March 20, 2025, at 3 pm, to facilitate the set up and hosting of the WRC Safari Rally Opening Ceremony,” a notice by the City County reads in part.

Motorists are advised to plan their journey in advance or use alternative routes, and cooperate with police officers and traffic marshals on-site to ensure smooth traffic flow.

Kenya is set to host the 2025 Safari Rally from March 20 to March 23, 2025 in Naivasha, Nakuru, and Nairobi counties and will feature two new stages.

Organisers said Morendat Farm in Naivasha and Camp Moran have been included in the route of the competition with its shakedown stage moved from the traditional Loldia stage to Sleeping Warrior.

The iconic 32km Kedong stage has been reduced by half.

In the past, there have been spectator zones that have not been well communicated to spectators.

So, this time, WSR Kenya wants them to know in advance what they can do and where they can catch rally action.

Besides increasing spectator autograph zones, WSR Kenya has introduced a rally village that will run for four days.

Spectators will have a full experience of viewing vehicles on location and will be able to see race cars throughout the route

The WRS will begin with shakedown on March 19, covering 5.00km

On Thursday, President William Ruto will flag off the WRS at 11:26 during a ceremonial start, KICC, Nairobi.

It will be followed by Super Special Kasarani (4.76km) and Mzabibu 1 (8.15km) races.

On Friday, the action will focus on Naivasha with the race starting at Sleeping Warrior on Saturday.

On Sunday, the WRS will start at Oserengoni 1 (18.33km) and end with Hell’s Gate 2 (10.53km).

The race will culminate with the award ceremony at 15:30, the Podium.
