Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has criticised the cooperation agreement between President William Ruto and ODM leader Raila Odinga, calling it a betrayal of Kenyans.

Reacting to Friday’s unveiling of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by Raila and Ruto, Kalonzo reaffirmed that the current opposition coalition will continue standing firm for the people.

"What has come out of KICC today is the biggest betrayal of Kenyans. The people's loyal coalition will never trade its principles for temporary comfort," Kalonzo posted on his X (formerly Twitter) page.

Alongside his statement, Kalonzo shared photos of his participation in the ongoing People’s Dialogue Forum at Uhuru Park, where he emphasized the opposition’s commitment to defending Kenyans' interests.

"We are the people’s loyal coalition," he declared, affirming that his team—including former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua—remains steadfast in the fight for Kenyans' rights.

On Friday, Kalonzo toured the forum, engaging with participants, including civil society leaders, who have been dialoguing on national issues since Wednesday.

Former Chief Justice David Maraga is among the key figures who have attended and addressed the forum, which concludes on Saturday.

Last month, Kalonzo urged Raila not to support the government but to join forces with the opposition to liberate the country.

Former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua, a key pillar of the opposition coalition, also warned Raila against teaming up with Ruto.

However, during his Wajir County tour on Wednesday, Raila dismissed the idea of working with Gachagua’s camp.

"The other man said he had set traps everywhere to prevent me from reaching State House for a handshake. So, do you want us to work with someone who set traps for me? I told him that is impossible," Raila stated.

On Friday, Ruto and Raila signed a historic MoU, committing to addressing at least ten key national issues, including tackling widespread corruption.

They also called for the full implementation of the Nadco report, a consensus document that emerged from bipartisan talks at Bomas of Kenya in 2023.

However, in a swift rebuttal, Busia Senator Okiya Omtatah strongly opposed the report’s implementation.

"Anybody supporting Nadco must be removed from public life. Raila Odinga and William Ruto have declared war on the future of this country," Omtatah declared during the People’s Dialogue Forum at Uhuru Park.
