
Deputy President Kithure Kindiki on Monday hosted Meru Catholic Diocese representatives at his Karen residence.
Kindiki received a briefing from the representatives on the preparations for the episcopal ordination of Monsignor Jackson Murugara, Co-adjutor Bishop-Elect, Catholic Diocese of Meru.
The episcopal ordination ceremony will take place on March 19, 2025.
The delegation was led by Fr David Kaberia.
Others present include Vicar General, Meru Diocese and Chairman, Steering Committee Fr Mathew Kaimenyi, Episcopal Vicar, Tharaka Nithi Fr Dionisio Murungi, Diocese Finance Administrator Fr Lucas Gatobu, Dean, Tharaka Deanery Fr. Patrick Mwiti, Dean, Maara Deanery Fr John Peter Gichunge and Parish Priest, Kathwana Fr Mugendi Kiroria

Maara Member of Parliament Kareke Mbiuki was also in attendance.
Kindiki acknowledged the role of the church in fostering unity and stability in the country.
“The government acknowledges and appreciates the role of the Catholic Church and the religious community in initiating development programmes in education, health and water, for the welfare and socio-economic growth of the people,” Kindiki said.
He further urged the church to continue praying for the unity, safety and stability of the Country.
