Arrest

Three suspects linked to the robbery and murder of a 22-year-old security guard in Kisii have been arrested.

Gucha South detectives arrested the three suspects during which, DCI says, crucial evidence materials were recovered from them.

Their arrests come after days of relentless hunt for the gang who are alleged to have committed the offence on November 26, 2024.

On the fateful evening, the gang is said to have ambushed the 22-year-old guard at Engako Bar which is located within Nyachenge trading centre.

They allegedly clobbered him with crude weapons and left him for dead.

“As the victim bled his life out, his assailants broke into the bar and disappeared with Sh26,000 worth of alcohol,” DCI said.

“Tabaka area chief informed the police of the incident, who activated a fine team of detectives to pursue the gang.”

It is then that investigators were deployed to probe the incident during which they explored various leads leading to the arrest of the first suspect.

Police seized a set of blood-stained clothes from the suspect and after interviewing him, police obtained more leads that led to the arrest of the two other suspects who included a woman.

The two were arrested in Kisii Township.

A mobile phone allegedly stolen from the primary scene was recovered from them during the arrest.

“The Sub-County Head of Investigations on Friday led his team in conducting an identification parade, after it emerged that the trio had revelled at the bar earlier on the fateful night of the murder. Frequent consumers of frothy waters at the joint positively identified them,” DCI said.

The three are being held at Nyamarambe Police Station, having been arraigned under a miscellaneous application to assist with further investigations.
