Sharon Otieno, a 26-year-old Rongo University student, became the face of one of Kenya's most high-profile murder cases after she was killed on September 3, 2018.
Sharon, who was seven months pregnant, was abducted alongside a journalist before her body was discovered in Kodera Forest, Homa Bay County, with multiple stab wounds.
Her unborn child also died in the attack. The case drew national attention after former Migori Governor Okoth Obado was charged with her murder.
During the trial, Obado admitted he had an intimate relationship with Sharon and was responsible for her pregnancy but denied any involvement in her killing.
